In a blog post, Google said a loophole has been discovered in its API system because of which some websites are misusing it and are been able to keep track and see users in incognito mode too.

In incognito mode when in use the API is being disabled so that websites could not track their users and when these malicious websites get to know that API is disabled, they determine that Incognito Mode is activated.

In Chrome 76, the conduct of the FileSystem API will be changed to avoid the Incognito Mode location. Google additionally communicated its responsibility to the standards of private perusing by saying that it will fix some other methods for Incognito Mode recognition.

The fix, which was first hailed in February, will affect distributors, especially the individuals who expect that clients on Incognito Mode are attempting to sidestep metered paywalls. The Boston Globe began blocking guests in Incognito Mode in 2017, requiring clients in private perusing to sign in to paid endorser records to access the site. The New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and different papers stuck to this same pattern.

Ars Technica affirmed with Chrome 76 beta that the Boston Globe, the New York Times, and the Los Angeles Times were not able to recognize that the program was in Incognito Mode, dissimilar to with Chrome 75.

Google recognized that the move will convolute issues for distributors who are upholding paywalls, with numerous news sites constraining perusers without memberships to a predetermined number of free articles every month. In secret Mode, be that as it may, may sidestep these impediments.

Google said that metered paywalls are “inherently porous,” as it requires cookies to track the number of free articles that a user has viewed. The company suggested options to news websites that include reducing the number of free articles, requiring free registration to view content, and hardening paywalls. Google added that publishers should take a look at the effect of the FileSystem API fix before making any changes to their websites.

Conclusion:   User Privacy is at utmost Importance - "GOOGLE"
